Tarot Card Reflection: Two of Cups

Updated: Jun 29, 2020

The tarot card of the week is the Two of Cups. This tarot card can stand for the union of any two entities - people, groups, ideas, or talents. There is potential for creating deep connections and partnerships based on shared values, compassion and love.

Sometimes this card indicates entering into a new partnership, with a love, friend or business partner. Both sides are focused on creating a relationship that is mutually beneficial, one that will create a win-win situation.

Interestingly enough, someone I dated a few months ago reached out via text. The relationships fizzled out as he became less responsive over time. I pretty much wrote him off. If he wasn't interested, he should have communicated it rather than leave the guessing work up to me.

I am on the fence about giving it another try. The pros are that we have strong intellectual chemistry. We can talk for hours and hours about any topic. Even if we disagree on political or religious issues, we can still have mutual respect for our differences in opinions.

Communication is so vital in any type of relationship.

Yet while we can communicate well, I am strongly opposed to ghosting. Unless the person is disrespectful or has predatory behavior, I believe each person deserves to know where the other person stands.

It's a huge red flag that this particular individual told me he prefers to ghost and be ghosted. That signals a lack of emotional maturity. Communicating rejection is hard but it doesn't have to be delivered in a harsh manner. There are so many ways to let a person down gently than to leave than in the dark to figure it out.

Don't get me wrong. I have my flaws too.

I have a very difficult time communicating boundaries with family and friends all the time. Sometimes, I need a few days to process my thoughts before letting a guy know I'm not seeing the relationship going any further.

Another red flag is the way he talks about women in his past. It comes across callous. While we aren't our past, I get the sense that we are not on the same page about women empowerment.

Either way, we'll see where this goes. It may just be him reaching out because he's simply bored during quarantine. Or perhaps he's back from a few bad dates. Maybe it'll go no where.

I'll focus on the energy of the Two of Cups. Should we move forward, I'm seeking a win-win where we are both looking to support one another in our personal and professional growth.
