How to Increase Affiliate Product Sales on Your Blog

Trying to promote an inexpensive affiliate product on your blog? Perhaps a book or beauty product? If you aren’t getting any results, don’t worry. You’re not alone.

Sales conversion for affiliate products can be tricky. To make things simple, allow me to share some of my lessons learned over the years from affiliate marketing.

High or low priced item, doesn’t matter.

At first, I stayed away from affiliate marketing. I thought that in order to make a decent income, I had to sell high ticket items. But other than a great mattress that I purchased on Amazon, I couldn’t speak to anything else that was priced over $500.

Since I wanted to earn enough income to be able to replace my 9-5 income, I focused on 1:1 services and selling my own online programs. However, that didn’t get me very far either.

Through a little bit more trial and error, I soon learned that there are still ways to make a significant amount of money selling affiliate products. Even inexpensive products may be something that a reader wants to buy.

Let’s take selling Amazon books on your blog as an example. If readers end up buying other things on Amazon, you receive commission for those items as well.

So if you link to a $7 book on Amazon, the buyer may end up ordering other items to get free shipping. When that happens, you get credit for all of them as long as the buyer purchases everything within a certain timeframe.

What about for other online products?

For some of the online courses, ebooks, and apps that I recommend, the owner of the product will sometimes have an affiliate link for a freebie. This includes a free e-book, guide, challenge or video tutorial where readers have to sign up with their email address.

When possible, I tend to use their opt-in as my main affiliate link for their affiliate product. This way my sales are still tracked afterwards but the product owner is doing the hard selling.

After all, the product owner is the true expert of the product. By introducing a free opt-in to my readers, they can learn more about the product and the company owner. They can also get a feel for whether or not they are truly interested.
